Diego and Annie rushed back into the lobby, breathing like that had been running for their lives. Of course, they had been. But at least the guardian was nowhere in sight for now.

What was in sight, however, was a very pleasant surprise. "Klaus?"

Annie was pretty glad for the opportunity to talk to Diego privately after that little show in the meeting, yes. Privately being the operative word, and Annie was none too shy about making it known that she needed to talk to him now. Like, right now. Like maybe she was considering dragging him off by an arm, but she'd do him the courtesy of allowing him to walk under his own momentum now.

"What the hell was that?" Annie asked in a hiss, as soon as they were behind a door. Again: privately. The last fucking thing she needed was the rest of them finding out their news and deciding she had to sit out, too.

So, time and universe traveling via briefcase still sucked. At least Diego wasn't actively throwing up, too focused on the fact that he was back in the home that he hadn't seen in years. And the last time he saw it, it had actively been falling down around him.

"This is a good sign." They were in the right house, at least!

Just because they had an invitation physically did not mean that any of the four people creeping towards the consulate had any actual business being here. Fortunately, everyone seemed to be too busy valeting cars and walking in arm-in-arm with their dates to notice these highly-suspicious people sneak their way through the parking lot.

"So what's the plan?" Lila asked as they crouched behind a car. She was trying to make it seem believable, still, that she was just along with all of this for a lark, but she had to keep reminding herself that she probably needed to be a little less steady when she ran in heels, and that boosting herself up and over a wall needed to look a little less natural when she did it. Escaped mental patients, particularly in this time period, weren't usually known for their agility.

Oh well. Maybe no one had noticed.
