It had been a really, really good honeymoon so far. Sure, they hadn't found any untouched ancient ruins to explore and potentially break, but they had been to the beach a lot, and seen some truly awesome views.

And there was also the part where they'd occasionally spend a day not leaving the hotel suite, like today. Those days were just as good. Shame it'd be over in a few days.

"Look, this food has been great," Diego said, looking over the room service menu. "But I'm actually kind of dying for a cheeseburger right now."

It had been a long night. It had been a long couple days. He was almost jealous MM got to have a long, drug-induced nap, because it felt like he hadn't slept in a week.

"How's your head, man?" Diego asked, handing MM a cup of coffee.

The last 24 hours had been it's own special type of hell, and the fact that Diego was banned from leaving the tower just made him even more anxious and irritated. It was a smart move from Homelander, holding him hostage, since it incapacitated both him and Annie. At least Annie was allowed to go outside.

Speaking of, she should be getting back from work any minute, which was something. Maybe Hughie had updated her on what went down in Russia.

Spending an hour in a car with someone he barely knew wasn't at the top of Diego's "fun things to do" list, but at least he could tune out Hughie's nervous rambling pretty easily.

"Remember, just here for recon," Diego said as he turned the engine off. "Any sign of acid puke or head exploding, we get out of here."

Annie would probably be irritated enough they did this without her. If it all went to shit while she wasn't here Diego would be in big trouble.

It had been a long day in Baltimore, going to wedding venue after wedding venue and mostly standing there looking supportive while Annie asked questions he didn't really understand. It was fun going over hypothetical menus though. Most importantly, this also made them finally settle on a date for the wedding. So now it felt like An Actual Thing that was happening.

And they got to visit his siblings at their abode, which was exhausting for a whole different reason.

"Why is there so much paperwork involved?" Diego asked, dumping the armful of brochures and package options he had been given throughout the day onto the kitchen table.

After work Diego had rushed home to enact his plan. He had promised (or warned?) Annie, that the only thing stopping him from buying an engagement ring was that he needed to deal with the whole lost siblings thing first. Well, they have now been found and Diego was wasting no time. He had taken Klaus and Allison out to Baltimore that very week and bought a ring.

Along with about ten empty ring boxes. Because he was going to have fun with this. Allison thought it was a bad idea but what did she know, she was divorced and her second husband was 60 years in the past.

They had all managed to make it back to Elliot's after the grassy knoll, somehow avoiding cops, FBI agents and nosy Texans who thought they could perform a citizen's arrest.

But they had made their impact. Their faces were all over the news as the people who killed President Kennedy.

"...Lee Harvey Oswald. Vanya Hargreeves, wanted in connection with the deaths of several FBI agents inside the federal building at Dealey Plaza. A Cuban exile known only as Diego…"

"Cuban?" Diego repeated.

"...who recently escaped from the Holbrook Sanitarium."

Diego came to slowly, wincing from a headache caused by...well, whatever the hell Lila dosed him with.

Goddammit. He was so stupid.

He blinked a couple times, getting used to the light. He soon realized that he was in a pretty swanky office. Lila was to the left of him and in front of them behind a desk was...a very dramatically dressed lady.

Luther felt like his whole world was being turned upside down. The one time he doesn't want to do what Dad says, the rest of his siblings go "sure, let's go out to eat with him".

His life was unfair.
