The thing about Annie being gone half the week every week was that Diego was the very familiar with the "my girlfriend has been gone for awhile and I'm getting antsy and on edge" feeling. Sure, other people could probably go a couple days without sex and handle it just fine but, well, he and Annie had their (very frequent) habits. So, the feeling was something he recognized almost immediately.

The problem was that it usually didn't kick in until Wednesday. Annie had just left this morning.

He couldn't quite put his finger on what the problem was until he remembered it was spring, and he had just talked about this. And he knew Annie wouldn't want to miss out (and, selfishly, he wanted her here). So he shot off a text.

911, SOS, come home ASAP the thing is happening. I'm getting gatorade and protein bars delivered.

That was subtle enough, right?

It was both subtle and also loud and clear.

Within an hour of receiving that text, Annie was scrambling out of the tower after making excuses about a really, really bad family emergency. Like, a really bad one, okay. Details to follow after she'd made them up. She did make the concession of swinging by her apartment before leaving -- both so she could pound a protein shake herself, and so she could change into a t-shirt and leggings rather than inevitably ripping her uniform again.

And as soon as she got to the island, Annie felt it too -- an immediate, distracting sort of itch that demanded scratching. It only got worse as she hurried through town (maybe doing a little light stretching on the way), and by the time Annie reached her own apartment, she was breathless and flushed from the exertion and from being out in all that fresh, pollinated air.

"I'm here!" she called, barely letting the door close behind her before she was already kicking off her shoes so they wouldn't get in the way of removing her other clothes and pretty much launching herself at Diego.

Diego had been ready for such an entrance. The pollen had been making everything too hot, so he hadn't bothered with a shirt, and the only reason he had kept his shorts on was in case it was a delivery guy at the door or something.

Though he had been very clear that everything should be dropped off at the door without knocking if they knew what was best for them.

When Annie launched herself at him, Diego immediately moved to get his hands under her thighs so he could lift her up as he kissed her.

"Good catch," Annie murmured into the kiss, slipping her arms up around Diego's neck and already gliding her hands appreciatively along his skin.

The kissing was going to have to pause for a second -- literally one second if Annie got her way, here -- for her to peel her shirt off, too. Great idea, Diego. It was hot. (He was hot. Everything was hot.)

"I know how much you like to be carried," Diego said, moving to press her back against the door once her shirt was off.

Hopefully they wouldn't break that. Having to get two new doors in less than a year would be embarrassing. It was bad enough when they almost knocked out the power in the MCA last year.

"What did you tell your work?"

"Family emergency," Annie replied, using the leverage of her back against the door to arch up a little so she could kiss Diego's neck as she happily trailed her hands along his upper arms. "I was fuzzy on the details so you're gonna have to help me make something up before I go back."

They were going to have time. Family emergencies could go on for...oh, weeks, you know.

"We'll think of something." Bold assumption that they would have the brain capacity for that this week.

The leverage of the door made it easy for for Diego to slide his hands over Annie's ass, very thankful for the invention of leggings right now.

"I'm so glad you texted," Annie murmured, probably unnecessarily, but she wanted to make sure he knew anyway. She even lightly bit, then flicked her tongue out against his earlobe for emphasis. (And also because it was there and that was going to be a theme this week.) "And that I could get away as fast as I did and you didn't have to suffer alone."

Although, like. Don't mind her picturing him suffering alone for a moment, because that image was not going to help her settle down at all.

"I couldn't let you miss this," he said, voice going a little bit breathy at the bite. "You'd never forgive me."

"I would have," Annie assured him, now moving to bite his neck because she liked that breathiness and wanted more, please, "but I might have asked you to make it up to me."

Which was also a nice image, and the beautiful thing about this whole pollen thing was that Annie's imagination was on overdrive to go along with how heightened things already were physically.

Diego moaned softly, both at the bite and the imagery popping up in his head. He hitched Annie's legs up around him, pressing himself against her so their hips were flush. "God, you feel good."

"So do you," Annie murmured, drawing her legs tighter around his waist so she could shift against him. Stupid fucking pants, per usual, but they'd get there. This was probably the last time Annie would wear actual pants for days.

"Should we, like, open the windows? For more of the pollen?" Mostly a joke. But also maybe there was merit to that? Though it would force them to watch their volume, in theory. (But then, so would their current position, in theory.)

Diego laughed softly. "I mean, I don't care about people hearing us, but it would also increase the likelihood of noise complaints."

"So will doing this against the door," Annie pointed out, leaning up to kiss him again. "I know you can't keep quiet."

That blatant lie -- Annie was the one with the noise problem and everyone here knew it -- was absolutely just a little competitive gambit she was throwing out to rile everyone up even more.

(They also clearly did not need additional pollen. They were kind of already like this on most days ending in Y; pollen just made it all kind of...more.)

Diego also had a bit of a noise problem, let's be real. Not that he cared what their neighbors thought of them.

She did have a point, though. It was early enough in this that Diego still had some brain capacity and could make it to the bedroom. Be a shame if one of them had an injury this early on.

So he steadied his hands under her ass, lifting again to move off the door and head towards of the bedroom.

"We can get comfortable this way, too," Annie contributed, shifting so she could dot kisses along the side of Diego's neck she had yet to attend to and culminating her efforts once more in a light bite. It was important to her that he be appreciated for carrying her, and also for how hot he was. "Settle in for the week."

Their bedroom was probably going to be a disaster by next weekend.

"Good idea," he murmured, kicking open the door to the bedroom with one foot. "We were at your place last year, right? We need to break this place in."

Oh yeah, like they hadn't already had sex in every room here without the pollen.

"We do need to br -- oh my God, Diego." Annie slid her arms up more firmly around his shoulders -- both because touching him felt amazing, and because she could get her mouth up close to his ear. "Remember the lightbulb?"

As though either of them ever could ever forget the lightbulb.

"I will never forget the lightbulb," Diego said, gently setting Annie down on the bed. He slid his hands over her thighs, unable to not touch right now. "That's one of the highlights of my life."

"Mine, too." She still wasn't exactly sure what had prompted that, since it wasn't like they didn't have plenty of sex, but she'd still never broken any lightbulbs before or since -- but you know what? She was an optimist. Maybe it would happen again. "I need to break some stuff here. It's only right."

Annie stretched her legs out under his hands, torn for a moment whether to reach for him or to get out of more of her clothes. Splitting the difference, it seemed, was the answer, since Annie could reach for Diego with one hand and reach back to undo her bra with the other. Efficiency, that's what that was.

Diego smiled when Annie reached for him, leaning in for another kiss. He knew Annie was more than capable of taking her bra off on her own, but this was a team effort now, with Diego reaching up to help pull it off once it was unhooked.

Most everything was going to be a team effort this week, let's be real.

Annie appreciated the help! Mostly because of the team effort of it all; just because it was tinged with pollen, it didn't mean the feelings weren't still there.

Speaking of -- "I love you," Annie sighed softly into the kiss, clearly very pleased as her bra was discarded. She was trying to touch him wherever she could, because it felt like it might actually physically hurt if she didn't, and arched up to press her torso to his.

"I love you too," he murmured. He got up further on the bed, encouraging Annie to lie back if only to press themselves closer together. Pants could wait.

They always figured out the pants thing eventually, even if it sometimes came to ripping. And right now, feeling the entirety of Diego's body pressed against her was exactly what Annie needed. She obediently laid back, sliding one hand up around his back to bring him with her. Her other hand skimmed between them, finding one of his nipples so she could brush her thumb against him playfully.

Diego moaned softly, unable to keep from grinding his hips against hers. He ducked his head down to nip at her neck, biting down a little harder than he usually would in his eagerness.

Annie gave an answering moan in response, turning her head to offer him a little more room to work there as the hand she had on his back found a path south. She slid it over his ass -- one part appreciation, and one part an attempt to draw him even tighter against her.

Possible? Probably not. But Annie was needily pressing her hips up against Diego's anyway like she thought maybe they somehow hadn't cracked it yet and there was a way to be closer while still wearing pants.
