The thing about Annie being gone half the week every week was that Diego was the very familiar with the "my girlfriend has been gone for awhile and I'm getting antsy and on edge" feeling. Sure, other people could probably go a couple days without sex and handle it just fine but, well, he and Annie had their (very frequent) habits. So, the feeling was something he recognized almost immediately.

The problem was that it usually didn't kick in until Wednesday. Annie had just left this morning.

He couldn't quite put his finger on what the problem was until he remembered it was spring, and he had just talked about this. And he knew Annie wouldn't want to miss out (and, selfishly, he wanted her here). So he shot off a text.

911, SOS, come home ASAP the thing is happening. I'm getting gatorade and protein bars delivered.

That was subtle enough, right?

"Not a deterrent," he said, though he guessed she already knew that. "I'd call that encouragement, even."

"Then consider yourself encouraged to try to leave, and you'll give me no choice but to tackle you and have my way with you," Annie replied, shifting to flick her tongue out just below his ear before biting the same area. "What a shame."

Annie kind of wanted to bottle sex pollen. Maybe she could have it turned into a perfume or something.

"This is happening now," Diego said, tightening the arm he had around her to press himself closer. "At some point this week."

They had enough time to run through a lot of ideas.

Time. Imagination. Dedication. Fortitude. It was like they'd been training for this week all year, really.

"I'll be ready," Annie promised, twining her legs up with his and already starting to feel like that might not quite be enough. "Hopefully everyone's too busy with each other to, like, do a crime or need a drink."

Pfff, work was clearly not happening as long as this was going on.

"I plan on having you so distracted you won't notice if they do," Diego murmured, shifting slightly to help her tangle their legs together. He was starting to feel antsy again too, although it was manageable at the moment. So long as they kept touching.

"You're already doing a really good job of that," Annie noted, sliding a hand up to play with his hair as she idly traced a foot along one of his legs.

It was already kind of not enough, but she could deal for the moment. "I mean, even normally, I find you, like, super distracting."

"The feeling is very mutual," he said, nuzzling against her hand. "If you're in the room my focus is solely on you."

"Only when I'm in the room?" Annie murmured with a little smile, tracing her thumb along his temple. "Sounds like I'm not sending you enough naughty texts, then."

Something to remedy whenever she did make it back to New York.

"I can split my attention on other things when you're not in the room," he said, running his fingers along her back. "I figure you'd want me to be a functioning member of society."

"That's right, and you're my favorite functioning member of society," Annie replied in agreement, leaning forward for another kiss and lightly skimming her opposite hand along his chest. She brushed her thumb across a nipple, just light and exploratory for the moment. "But not this week."

Functioning in society super did not matter this week.

Diego let out a soft noise, arching his back closer to Annie instinctively. "No, definitely not this week. This week we are hermits."

Constantly turned on hermits.

"Very reclusive hermits," Annie agreed, repeating the motion just because that back-arching and soft noise was pretty hot, and shifted so she could kiss along his jaw. "Kind of the dream, honestly."

There were a lot of days when she wasn't under the influence of aphrodisiac pollen that Annie wished she could be kind of a hermit. (But still a sexy hermit, who hermited with Diego.)

"We'll just have to make the most of it while it lasts," he murmured, lightly scratching his nails along the outside of her thigh. "And, you know, count down to next year."

"I'll make sure I note the week on my calendar so we can keep track for next year," Annie promised, shifting her leg under his touch, and reaching down to lightly scratch her nails down along his hip. "But in the meantime, you're succeeding at that whole distracting thing again."

Which warranted another kiss, Annie felt.

Look at that, and Diego hadn't even been trying that hard. Which probably could be credited to the pollen more than his skills.

Either way he was kissing Annie again, so it didn't really matter who or what was responsible. That feeling in his gut was getting a little more persistent, and when he kissed Annie it was a little more deliberate than the lazy afterglow kisses from before.

Yeah, no, that was the thing -- while his very presence was usually enough to distract Annie from a lot of things (reading emails, bartending, doing literally any chores), the pollen was doing a lot of the heavy lifting this week in terms of stealing her focus and keeping it firmly on Diego.

She nipped at his lower lip, that hand at his hip sliding around to run up his back. Which -- oh no -- forced Annie to press her body all up against his. So sad.

The feeling of Annie pressed up against him made Diego moan again, a little louder this time. The need for more was starting to gnaw at him and it had him shifting to move them so he was on top, one of his legs still twined up between hers.

Annie gave a very pleased hum in her throat at the change in position, and the feeling that had started as a distracting little tickle was now pretty much dominating all of her thoughts again. She shifted under him, already angling her hips a bit against his leg, and hooked an arm up around his neck to facilitate all the kissing that now felt not only warranted but necessary.

"I love this," he murmured, pressing his leg a little more firmly against her. "I love you."

Which, in turn, had Annie making a noise that she would deny all day was a whimper (but was definitely a whimper) as she needily moved against his leg, seeking out friction. "I love you so much. And I love that we get this...like, gift in the spring."

The pollen would have been fun if they weren't both prone to processing and expressing their feelings for each other through sex; given that factor, and it was little wonder that this was everyone's favorite time of year.

(That's right. Annie liked sex pollen more than Christmas. She wouldn't say it out loud, though.)

Diego would say that out loud, happily.

He pulled away from the kiss so he could make his way down her neck, doing his very best to leave some marks. It wouldn't happen, but he was going to try.

Hey, she'd thrown down the gauntlet on that front. Annie was pretty sure that no, no matter how hard they tried to mark up her skin with bites, it wasn't going to make a difference. But she still thought it was worth trying.

She angled her neck for him, helpful as ever, and slid a hand into his hair to run her nails along his scalp lightly, and tug on his hair where she could. (Maybe, if she spent all her birthday wishes and shooting-star wishes and throw-a-penny-in-a-well wishes on it this year, he'd have that prophesied long hair by next spring? Something to dream about.)

"Harder," Diego murmured before biting down again. He slid one of his hands over Annie's breast, squeezing lightly. "Please."

A little shudder went through Annie -- that 'please' was just the sexiest thing, don't ask her why -- but she obediently did as requested and pulled harder on his hair. Simultaneously, she scratched the nails of her opposite hand against his back, and that, too, was harder than she'd been before.

"You're so hot," she murmured, arching up against his hand.

"So are you," he breathed, nuzzling against her neck. Diego rocked his hips against Annie's hip, trying to get a little more friction.
