The thing about Annie being gone half the week every week was that Diego was the very familiar with the "my girlfriend has been gone for awhile and I'm getting antsy and on edge" feeling. Sure, other people could probably go a couple days without sex and handle it just fine but, well, he and Annie had their (very frequent) habits. So, the feeling was something he recognized almost immediately.

The problem was that it usually didn't kick in until Wednesday. Annie had just left this morning.

He couldn't quite put his finger on what the problem was until he remembered it was spring, and he had just talked about this. And he knew Annie wouldn't want to miss out (and, selfishly, he wanted her here). So he shot off a text.

911, SOS, come home ASAP the thing is happening. I'm getting gatorade and protein bars delivered.

That was subtle enough, right?

Diego's hands immediately went to Annie's waist, squeezing tightly, both to steady her and to keep himself from losing it right away. He loved the pollen, the pollen was great, but it did nothing for his stamina.

The noises she was making were not helping with that either, by the way.

He buried his face against her neck, trying to take a few steadying breaths as he got used to the sensation.

"You feel so fucking good," Annie mumbled, attempting to steady her own breathing as she lightly traced her nails down his back. "Nothing feels as good as you do."

That was true for Annie most of the time, but it was especially true with all the pollen adding to everything and her, yes, significantly lowered stamina and willpower. But it only took her a moment before she was rolling her hips down against Diego's and trying to tilt her head to kiss him as she gently -- for now -- moved in his lap.

Diego gasped softly, his nails digging into Annie's waist when she started to move. He lifted his head up to kiss her back, letting her take control right now while he collected himself. The slow movements wouldn't last for long, but he could enjoy it while it lasted.

Right now, slow felt more than necessary, even if it wouldn't last. (And the nice thing about this week? It was fine if it didn't last, because they'd probably be back at it within minutes.) Slow was good (great) most of the time anyway, because Annie was exactly the kind of ridiculous, romantic idiot to love drawing things out when they could both stand to -- but slow today, with everything so heightened, was just this side of maybe actually magic?

At least, that was how Annie felt as she adopted a steady, fluid but definitely slow rhythm as she rocked against him, and brought a hand up to cup Diego's cheek as she kissed him and pressed closer so their torsos were flush as she moved.

Again: sex pollen and romance were not at all mutually exclusive, to Annie's mind.

"Fuck," Diego murmured, starting to lift his hips up slightly to meet her rhythm. He bit down playfully at her lip, feeling a little more in control of himself now. "This is so good."

God, he loved this week.

Probably not a surprise that there was a direct correlation between that bite to Annie's lip and a slight uptick in her rhythm, because as wonderful and potentially-magical slow felt -- well. They were both only human, regardless of whatever other gifts they had. Slow was not going to be sustainable for that long.

"You're so good," Annie breathed, digging her nails in against his shoulder as she moved against him a little harder as she leaned her forehead against Diego's. "We should do this forever."

Ambitious.

Diego laughed softly, though it turned into a moan towards the end of it. When he spoke next it was sounding a little strained due to the change of pace. "Let's try for this week first."

They were both probably going to be limping by Saturday.

Worth it.

Annie laughed in turn, though it came out more of a breathy moan than an actual laugh, and increased her rhythm just a hair more, still trying to throttle things a tiny bit for both of their benefits while also having a very hard time holding back all that much.

She slid a hand down Diego's arm to find one of his hands at her waist and gently tried to lift it up to her breast, instead. "More," she told him before kissing him again.

She wasn't even trying to be bossy to rile him up right now. She was being bossy because she wanted more and wasn't feeling shy about asking for it. Bless you, sex pollen.

Even if that wasn't the intention, the bossiness did, in fact, rile him up more. Diego was excellent at taking instructions in very specific situations, and this was one of them.

He thrust his hips up harder, losing whatever rhythm he had going in favor for more speed and force. He obediently kept his hand on one of Annie's breasts, lightly tugging on her nipple. The other slid between them to circle her clit with his thumb.

"Oh my God." Annie had gotten the more she had asked for, and like, it was a really good thing Diego was into taking instructions because this was absolutely not the last time she'd be making requests this week. (Maybe Annie also liked being bossy because it riled her up, a little, too. She at least really loved seeing Diego take direction.)

"You're going to make me come so hard," she warned in a ragged whisper, though it was less a warning than a promise since she'd completely abandoned the idea of trying to take things slow in response to his touch. She tightened her knees at either side of his hips and found a death grip on one shoulder, trying to maintain some rhythm even as everything was starting to get all warm and tingly and the idea of focusing on anything but Diego and how good this felt became not only difficult but impossible.

"Fuck, you can't say things like that." He had already been close, but now he was right there. It was only slightly embarrassing her words could undo him like that. Blame it on the pollen.

"Come on," he panted, burying his face against her neck. "Come on--"

Annie needed exactly zero further encouragement, especially considering she'd used her words out of what had felt like necessity, there.

And also because she thought he might like to know that. Just keeping him informed.

Annie was very loud when she came, her head tipping back slightly as she completely let go and her eyes lit up brightly enough to reflect light on the ceiling. The more noteworthy thing might have been the electrical surge and subsequent sound of explosive breaking glass that came from the direction of the lamp on Annie's nightstand.

All holidays should have traditions, after all. Even accidental ones.

You know Diego was far gone when he didn't even process the sound of shattering glass. He was too busy focusing on the feeling of Annie tightening up around him and the warm pressure building up inside of him.

He followed Annie soon after, biting down on her shoulder hard when he came. Which was his version of breaking glass, apparently.

Annie had heard the glass and had processed exactly what it was in the moment, but had absolutely not cared. She still didn't, but it was also hard to care about anything but how she was still shaking from sensation, how she needed to figure out how to breathe again, and how fucking incredible Diego was in every single way.

She dropped her head to his shoulder, taking a few moments to try to get herself under control again before softly mumbling, "Amazing."

Him. The sex. The fact they had, indeed, broken something again this time around.

"Yeah," Diego murmured, the words muffled against Annie's skin. He was pretty sure he had blacked out there for a second and needed a second to make the room stop spinning. "Amazing."

"I broke the lamp."

Hopefully not the whole lamp, but just the bulb itself.

"Really, you broke the lamp," she corrected, pressing a soft, slightly-dazed kiss to Diego's shoulder and smiling into his skin.

"What?" Diego asked, lifting his head up slightly. "How did I miss that?"

"You were busy," Annie pointed out, nuzzling against his cheek before nodding her head over to where there was totally broken glass all over her nightstand. "Making me break the lamp."

God. They really were amazing.

"Should I apologize?" Diego asked, turning to look at the damage.

"Don't you dare. But we probably want to make sure we have plenty of lightbulbs," Annie replied, taking that opportunity to kiss his neck.

Pollen was going to pollen, even while she was still basking in the afterglow.

"Something to prepare for next year," Diego said. Now that he had a little more focus he could wrap his arms around Annie's waist again, keeping her close even as he shifted to lie them both back so they could be more comfortable.

Nobody needed any limbs falling asleep. Not when round two was likely around the corner.

"I'll try to be more careful, too," Annie replied with a fairly unrepentant smile, stretching out long against him with a content sigh. "Pollen just makes it all --"

She actually didn't have a handy word for what she meant. More sprang to mind, but that also wasn't quite right, and she just kind of vaguely waved a hand before settling it on Diego's chest. "You know. Pollen-y."

"I know exactly what you mean," Diego said lazily, running his hand down her side. "I love you."

You know, in case it wasn't obvious.

"I love you, too. So much," Annie sighed, draping her leg across his and nuzzling against his shoulder. Already, she wasn't feeling as sleepy and inclined to just cuddle as she normally did after sex, even if she wasn't quite up for more than just constant, affectionate touches just yet. "Probably why I keep breaking lightbulbs around you."

She did not think she'd be able to do that with someone else.

"Maybe we should put some emergency candles in here," he joked. "Just in case all of the lights go out."
