Yesterday was a...success? If one could call beating the shit out of a guy in a stupid looking uniform a success. It hadn't really done a lot to make Diego feel better overall, but at least he felt like he did something other than sit there twiddling his thumbs.

Now he really didn't have much to do until class on Friday (where he was determined not to go down so easily next time!), so he was having a quiet evening in with American Ninja Warrior on TV and a protein shake because his cooking skills were non-existent and that counted as dinner.

He was very much not going to complain. In fact when he came back, ice in hand, he took a few moments just to enjoy the view (minus the welts).

"That's much better," he said, wandering over. "I wanted to make sure you weren't hit anywhere else anyway."

For better or for worse, the new uniform was helping Annie overcome a lot of her self-consciousness, and she only shifted a little bit under his gaze.

"Only found the two bullets," Annie said lightly, "but I appreciate you being thorough. I did hit the ground pretty hard."

"I want to be thorough," he joked, placing the ice pack on the bed. "But in order to make you more comfortable, I'll take my clothes off too."

Sure, that's how it worked.

"That's really considerate of you," Annie told him with a nod, stretching her legs with a sigh both because she wanted to and because she knew it would be distracting. "So far you're taking very good care of me."

Went and got the ice and everything.

"It helps you're not a very demanding patient," Diego said as he pulled his shirt off.

"I could be more demanding," Annie teased, propping her head up on her elbow as she watched him. "You're also not a very bossy nurse so far, so it's easy to be compliant."

Diego kicked off his sweatpants and moved to get up on the bed. "I'm curious as to how you could be more demanding."

Of course he was.

Of course he was, yes. Annie should have seen that coming.

She smiled, reaching out to lightly touch his arm -- she actually was sensitive enough of her own injuries to not reach for him with quite as much enthusiasm as usual, because that would be sort of a mood killer, but she could use her words a little. "Well, I demand more kissing, now that we're a little evened out," she decided, leaning closer.

That was a start.

"Wow, what a demand." It was just sooo difficult to lean in and kiss Annie. So difficult.

Look, the fun of being demanding, if you asked Annie, was asking someone to do things you both already wanted to happen, anyway.

Annie scooted a little closer, minding her injuries and skimming her hand up along Diego's arm, slow and appreciative as she kissed him.

"Pretty sure," she murmured, "there's something about kissing injuries and making them better, right?" She knew full damn well that that was a thing, yes. "So you should do that."

"Well if you're demanding it..." He kissed his way down her neck, taking his sweet time with it since she hadn't said anything about doing it quickly.

"I just think it might help the healing process," Annie murmured, threading a hand up to lightly palm the back of his neck.

She would probably shortly add that giving into impatience was part of healing, too.

Well, if she thought it would help with the healing process then who was Diego to try to argue that? He got up on his knees, ensuring he wasn't pressing up against her injuries as he kissed his way down her neck and chest.

When he got to the welt there he very carefully pressed a kiss there.

Annie arched up very slightly, sighing. It wasn't like she was going to dwell on her feelings, here -- she was trying pretty hard to get her mind off things, obviously -- but gentleness from Diego was, as always, equal parts hot and romantic for her.

"Promise I'll say something if it hurts," she assured him softly, trailing her fingertips along his shoulder and tracing them down along his bicep. She wasn't used to this, but that had always helped her when he was hurt, or when she was worried she might hurt him.

Diego hummed in acknowledgement, running his tongue over the area momentarily before moving down further. He doubted this was actually helping, medically speaking, but he was enjoying himself for sure.

There wasn't really a ton to be done for her, medically speaking, anyway. The ice would probably help a little with the swelling, and Annie might get into some Neosporin or something tomorrow to see if it helped them along.

But this was helping a lot as far as...non-medically.

She squirmed a little under him, her skin breaking out in goosebumps because yeah, she wasn't sure that kiss-it-better kisses typically involved tongue, but she certainly wasn't objecting.

"Feeling better?" he murmured, kissing his way down her stomach.

"You know, I am," Annie said softly, shifting a little so she could lightly trace her foot along his side with a touch of impatience. "You're helping."

Which was part of why she'd come here. It was partly that she'd promised to show him when and if she ever got shot, but mostly because she knew being with Diego would make her feel better in just about every way.

"Well I learned from the best," he said, smiling against her skin. He pressed a soft kiss against the other welt, followed quickly by another swipe of his tongue.

"And improved on it. I'm way meaner when you're the hurt one," Annie murmured, brushing her hand over his hair in a way that was both affectionate and also sort of an attempt to encourage more of that.

"I wouldn't call it mean," he said, looking up at her. "More like aggressively worried."

"I like to think I've gotten better about it," Annie offered with a little smile. "Which is not encouragement to go get hurt."

But she'd at least lightened up on the idea that she was going to hurt him. (Or, at least, had come around to the idea that Diego was kind of into it when she did.)

"Noted," he said, hooking his fingers into the top of her underwear. "Now, can I trust you to stay still?"

"I mean, I'll try," Annie said playfully, blushing slightly and already shifting around a little bit. "What if I don't?"

"Well if you weren't hurt I'd suggest handcuffs," he teased, slowly pulling down her underwear. "But since you are hurt I would just give you a stern look instead."

So, you know. Another incentive not to get hurt.
