Diego and Annie had gotten back pretty late last night and immediately flopped into bed. They were both covered in bruises, Diego had a concussion and Annie had emotionally been put through the wringer. They were due for some actual sleep. 

It was later than usual when Diego managed to get out of bed, and shuffle out to get coffee from the kitchen, still limping slightly from being thrown around by Stormfront. He had gotten a mug out of the cabinet and was half-turned towards the coffee machine when he noticed a bald lady mannequin sitting at his kitchen table.

"Oh, Jesus!" And now there was a broken mug on the floor. Thanks, Dolores.

"It wasn't ridiculous, it was awesome." Totally no trauma involved at all. He certainly wouldn't be thinking about a person committing suicide in front of him ever again. Nope.

Yeah, that sounded about right for their family.

"It was a human hand."

"Yeah, I needed it to open doors," he said. "Had to do a whole jailbreak thing for Annie."

"At least the guy was already dead when I took the hand off?"

Five made a face that said: who hadn't done that once or twice before?

"Well, good job on not dying."

[knife_bender]

"Annie thinks you were worried about me." Which clearly could not be true in any way whatsoever.

Five scoffed even though he had been. Worried and annoyed. "She's really such an only child."

[knife_bender]

"She really is," he agreed, huffing out a laugh. "As you can see, I'm fine. Just got thrown around a bit. If we were as durable as the superheroes in her universe Dad would have taken over the world."

Ben would probably still be around.

"That sounds like the worst case scenario." Or season 3.

[knife_bender]

"It was pretty bad," he said. "On the upside, found someone with the worst superpower ever. He's got a massive dick that he can get to strangle people like a boa constrictor."

[apocalypsehow]

"Huh."

Finally, someone who made Ben's powers less horrifying!

[knife_bender]

"Right?" Terrible power, and yet still more useful than being able to hold your breath underwater. "Apparently some people in Annie's company were trying to make superheroes and the results were iffy."

Iffy was a word for it.

"At least there wasn't anyone like Allison." Because wow could that be a dangerous power. Thankfully they were all too emotionally shattered to use their powers very well.

Other than Five. Who just channeled that into murder.

"True. Or if there is someone like that out there they're using their powers like she does." You know, to do normal things like get acting roles and the perfect husband.

"I did see a chick who could make heads explode."

[apocalypsehow]

"Now that's a power," Five had to admit, kind of impressed with it.

[knife_bender]

"Yeah, it was kind of cool," he admitted. "Not really useful in day to day life though."

[apocalypsehow]

"Unless you could use it to open things too." Five, no.

[knife_bender]

"I didn't stop to ask her what else she could do," he said. "We were kind of busy. And I'm pretty sure she wanted me dead."
