For all of his outward confidence, there was a little part of Diego that was nervous for Annie today. He knew she had everything to be part of a big superhero team, but her universe had some weird ideas of what a superhero should be. So, yes, he might have been doing some anxious pacing around the apartment waiting for her to get back.

At least with this audition over he could stop feeling guilty when he ate something that wasn't kale around her.

"I mean, if it was any other job interview, I would've been a lot less crazy," Annie pointed out, pulling back just enough to smile at him. "Promise. But now that my attention is off of being perfect, I can focus a bit more of it on you again."

And focusing her attention on Diego was a great way to ensure she stayed distracted! Everyone won!

"I'd never complain about that," he said, sliding his hands under her shirt.

"Never?" Annie checked with a playful little raise of her eyebrows as she went ahead and pulled her shirt off. (Maybe changing clothes had been a waste of time if she was just taking them back off?) "Seriously, you keep saying things like that and I'm just going to take it as a challenge to distract you when you're working on something."

Like, God help you if you ever did have to take a phone call in her presence, Diego.

Really, putting on clothing had been a waste of time.

"I will happily accept that challenge," he said, leaning in to kiss her chest. "I have no problems leaving work early."

"But what would the troopers think?" Annie asked, sighing as she reached for his shirt, too. Fairness and all. "You have to think of the example you'd set."

Also if Annie was actually at work distracting him, they'd probably get an even worse reaction than that time Ralph had gagged at them, honestly.

"The example I already set really isn't great," he said, lifting up his arms.

"What if I tried to distract you during training?" Annie tried, getting that shirt out of the way and throwing it...somewhere. She wasn't looking; she was too busy leaning closer to kiss him again. "That could be dangerous."

"Depends on the distraction," he said before kissing her again. He slid one of his hands up her waist, just lightly trailing his fingers over her skin. Since they were taking their time and everything.

"Distractions like this," Annie murmured, shifting so she could duck her head to kiss along his shoulder. All the better to hide her blush when she added, "Or the suggestion of distractions like this."

Because, like, if they were going to be sending each other suggestive texts and photos as part of this long-distance thing, it wasn't like Annie was going to restrict herself to sending those texts when he always expected them.

"That...actually would be pretty distracting," he admitted. "Am I allowed to be distracting in return?"

"I would expect nothing less," Annie assured him with a light bite to his shoulder.

Diego gasped softly, lifting his hips into hers. "Even if you're doing big superhero team stuff?"

Oh yeah, those are the kinds of texts you wanted while you were sitting at that V-shaped conference table.

Perhaps it was a good thing after all that Annie was headed for a future without pockets.

Annie lightly raked her nails along Diego's opposite shoulder and rocked her hips down against his. "I'm up for the challenge."

"You might regret saying that," he said before leaning in to get his mouth around one of her nipples.

"I doubt it." Annie had not meant for those words to come out as a shaky gasp, but then he went and did that.

She slid a hand low between them, her fingertips brushing against the front of Diego's pants very lightly. Because Annie was taking it slow today, and right now slow meant being a gigantic tease.

Diego's response to that teasing was to run his teeth lightly over her nipple. This whole slow thing might not last for long.

Yeah, probably not, considering that just drove Annie to arch her back and mumble his name softly, the hand at his shoulder tightening to dig her fingernails into his skin in response.

Her other hand pressed against him a little more firmly, stroking through the fabric. It was still probably a lighter touch than he'd like, but she'd get there.

Diego made a pleased humming noise, that probably could be felt more than heard at this point. He might get impatient in a few moments but for right now this was perfect for him.

Annie was getting a little impatient, actually, and that humming certainly didn't help any.

"These need to go," she said softly, starting to pull away reluctantly as her hand moved to tug at the waist of his pants.

"So do yours," Diego murmured. He lifted his hips, more than happy to be the one to lose their pants first.

"In a minute," Annie assured him, making no move to remove her own pants once she'd gotten his off. Instead, she leaned in to kiss him, not retaking her place in his lap just yet and instead opting to brace a hand against his chest to gently push him back into the couch.

It had been a long week with a lot of focus on Annie; it was Diego's turn for a little attention, she felt.

He generally got a lot of enjoyment out of mutual nudity, but in general he was happy to whatever she wanted whenever she took charge.

He kissed her back, reaching out to run his hand along her hips since she wasn't in his lap anymore and he felt the need to keep touching her.

They had all night for mutual nudity!

Okay, no, they totally had a finite window of time before Annie fell asleep available for mutual nudity, actually, but it would still happen eventually.

"I love you," Annie murmured, bracing one knee on the couch so she could reach down and wrap her hand around him, not really teasing about it anymore.

"I love you too," he said, sounding breathier than he meant to. Just...pretend to not notice that.

Annie could pretend not to notice. Or at least, she could duck her head down to kiss Diego's chest, and hide how pleased she looked at his breathiness.

Her hand kept up a steady, even, probably-kind-of-frustratingly-slow pace. And meanwhile, her free hand traveled up to press against Diego's shoulder in an attempt to ensure he held still for her.
