A bar in Baltimore | Friday Night

Diego was a pretty simple guy. He didn't require anyone to go all out for a bachelor party, which was why he was fairly confident Luther could pull it off without it being a complete disaster.

There was a bar. There was karaoke at said bar, and the added benefit of there being arcade games at said bar. Perfect way to get a bunch of dudes hammered the night before a good chunk of them had to leave on a trip overseas.

[For the dudes who better get off their ass and sing. Hold for some OCD We're good to go!]

Or help you be totally uninhibited during the singing. Either/or.

"So I hear," Watts said. "Miss January helped me decide on an appropriate song, as it happens. Since I am... significantly behind on what's considered popular."

"Oh, yeah. Didn't really think about that." But Diego didn't tend to think things through in any situation. "Well, you picked a good person to go to. Annie's good at that kind of stuff. And she's a way better singer than me."

"She did mention she'd done so professionally," Watts said with a nod. "So I'd imagine she's a sight better than most."

"A lot better," Diego said with a tinge of pride. "But she used to have to sing some pretty bad songs for work. Very cheesy."

"...Cheesy?" What on earth did cheese have to do with it, Diego?

"Oh, I guess it means insincere?" he tried. "And generally unpleasant."

"I see," Watts nodded. Points for trying with the explanation there, Diego! "Yes, I much prefer sincerity myself, I can see why that would be unpleasant to have to perform. Or listen to." Which begged the question of why someone would want to, of course.

"Some people eat that shit up," Diego said with a shrug. "Best not to question other's musical tastes. You're probably going to hear some weird stuff tonight."

Yeah, Watts questioned peoples' tastes when it came to a lot of things. He could be a little judgemental.

"Very well, I will keep that in mind." He took another sip of his wine, and then added: "Thank you, by the way. For extending the invitation to Steven as well. It was very kind of you." Since it was, you know, Diego's party and he'd never even met Steven.

"It's not a problem; the more people I hear wreck songs up there the happier I am," Diego joked. "And I figured you were new to this, might have needed someone to help you through it."

"Your assumption was... not wrong," Watts said ruefully. Because again, the term 'bachelor party' had an entirely different connotation when you were a gay man from the early 1900s.

"This is actually the first one I've ever been to," Diego admitted. "But I've seen enough movies to know how it goes."

"Mmm. Much like music, I am far behind on those as well," Watts admitted. "Moving pictures were just becoming en vogue back home when I left."

And for some reason every time he and Steven had attempted watching a movie they'd gotten distracted. Well, except for that one time they'd essentially had a chaperone.
