So the idea had been to go out to eat after spending time in a haunted corn maze (benefit of your anniversary being near Halloween), but by the time it was all over both Diego and Annie were too covered in dirt and straw to really be allowed into a place that wasn't Denny's.

Of course they could have had some self-restraint and not have gone so hard racing through the maze, but they wouldn't be Diego and Annie if they didn't.

That was fine. It had been a fun time, and pizza was always good. Especially when it was timed perfectly and dropped off at the apartment door just as they were getting back.

And they would again!

"Creative," Annie echoed in a murmur, sliding her hands up to cup his face, brushing her thumbs over his cheekbones like the romantic -- but not entirely distracted from imminent sex -- idiot she was. "You're so smart."

"I have my moments," he said, still feeling that warmth whenever Annie complimented him on his brains. "If I were smarter I would have taken your pants off before we got into this position."

She meant it every time. Maybe it was mostly just idle flirting right now, but she still thought he deserved to hear it as often as possible. Especially since, more often than not, he was better at coming up with plans than she was.

"We're just creative about pants," Annie teased, rolling her hips down against his before kissing him again.

Diego let out a little noise as his hips made contact with hers. That little bit of friction was nowhere near enough, but it was a nice prelude of what was to come. "And how do you suggest we creatively get out of our predicament?"

"I probably should move." Boring answer, and Annie proved it by kissing her way over to his ear to add, "But remember that time we ripped my tights and underwear because we couldn't wait?"

There had actually been two times that had happened, but Annie felt like reminiscing, not splitting hairs. And also like teasing Diego (and herself) more, so she rolled her hips again in the hopes of getting more noises out of him.

"Are you kidding me?" he asked, voice going up slightly. His hands were back on Annie's waist as he pushed his hips up in counterpoint to hers. "I think about it all the time."

"All the time?" Annie's breath hitched a little there, but could you blame her? "When--when you're by yourself?"

Guess what Annie thought about all the time? Even if she still had a hard time admitting to herself how very, very much she'd liked that late-night phone call.

"Gotta pass the time somehow when you're gone," he teased. "Just one of many things I think about."

"I also think about it all the time," Annie admitted, and the fact that she was topless meant that she was visibly flushing all the way down her chest. Even after a year -- she was less shy about saying what she liked and what she wanted these days, sure, but it was probably always going to make her turn a little pink.

She reluctantly started moving out of his lap, trailing her hands down along his arms. "Amongst other things. It gets lonely in my big apartment, without you."

If it made her feel any better, Diego still loved it when she blushed.

"What else do you think about?" he asked, reaching to help out with the whole pants removal thing.

"Valentine's Day," Annie replied, leaning down to kiss him even as she worked on her pants. "Last Christmas, when we -- the first time with the wall. That time I called you."

Australian hot tub sex was a recent addition to the list, too.

"Best phone call I ever had." Diego tugged her pants down some, leaning in to press a kiss on her hip.

Annie's hand found the back of his head, her fingertips trailing over his hair as she stepped out of her pants. "Same. Kinda, like, burned into my memory. Sometimes I dream about that phone call."

Or at least how he'd looked during parts of it.

Diego looked up at her with a small smile, looking in awe of that. His cheeks might have turned a little pink too. "Yeah?"

He really liked hearing that.

"I do too, sometimes."

"You were really, really hot," Annie replied, absolutely loving his reaction -- even if it made her color a little, just to say it. She bit her lip, leaning down to work on his pants, too. Only fair. "Like, you always are, but...I liked seeing you."

So maybe next time she woke up from a dirty dream about him, she'd reach for his phone and call him again. (Unless he was right there in bed with her, of course.)

"We really should do that again," he said, lifting his hips to help her out with that. "Might as well get something out of being apart."

"You," she murmured, eager enough to simultaneously work his pants down and start crawling back in his lap, "should really take those pictures we keep talking about. Anniversary present for both of us."

Especially since nowadays, she had a pocket and the leverage to tell Ashley to get out of her face if a dirty text came through on her phone.

"I can do that," he said, reaching out to get his hands on her again immediately. "Any special requests or should it be my artistic vision?"

"I think you know what I like by now," Annie replied, kind of getting an idea (and if she dwelled on that idea, she would just about die blushing, but...okay, her phone was still within reach, good to know for no reason at all.) She slid her arms up around his shoulders, leaning down to kiss along his neck. "And if you want ones of me, I'll pose however you like. Totally your vision."

"I like that idea," he murmured, closing his eyes to savor that feeling for a moment. He curled a hand loosely around the back of Annie's neck, encouraging her to keep doing what she was doing. "I'll go first though. My idea, after all."

"We could also take pictures together," Annie murmured, just before biting his neck in case he thought that was a terrible idea and she needed to cover for how terrible it had been.

Also, because he didn't have any hickeys yet and that was like, a fucking crime.

Diego moaned softly, both at the bite and the idea of taking photos together. He also couldn't help the little jerk of his hips against hers after that as well. It was some good imagery.

"I want that." Just in case he hadn't made it obvious.

Annie had a cute little reply all set to go, intended to rile him up further, but that was distracting. It had been distracting with pants on and it was even more so without, so Annie couldn't really help the breathy whimper she let out against his skin.

"I do, too," she managed before sucking on the area she'd just bitten, shifting her hips to tease herself against him again.

"Fuck," he gasped, getting a hand on her thigh and gripping hard. He was losing any bit of patience he had right about now. "Please, I want--"

Well. It was pretty obvious what he wanted.

"You want," Annie agreed, snaking a hand low and wrapping it around him. She, obviously, also wanted, but she was taking her time getting him lined up against her in an effort to try to draw this out a tiny bit longer for everyone's sake. "You're so fucking hot like this. You're like this in my dreams."

Just in case he had any doubt about which specific parts of that phone call had seared themselves right into Annie's Big List of Instant Turn-Ons.
