75 Godiva Street | Late Morning

It had been a long and sleepless, but satisfying, 4 weeks with the twins at home. They were turning a month old on Friday, and Annie and Diego finally decided it was time for them to be introduced to the rest of the world. Diego would miss their little family bubble they had for a month, but he had to admit he was looking forward to talking to adults again.

They had sent texts out to various people inviting them over if they so wished (he was not about to force people to see his children), and ordered a pizza now that they were done with the healthy food Donna had supplied them with. The twins were dressed in cute outfits that they probably wouldn't put up with a couple months from now.

Of course Maggie immediately spit up on her little dress but he figured people were gonna have to get used to that like he had over the last couple weeks.

They went through clothes like crazy with these kids so the more excuses to put off laundry the better as far as Diego was concerned.

And there he was answering the door, holding a baby with a bow on her head. "Hey, guys. Glad you could make it."

It was the blowouts, wasn't it? It was always the blowouts.

"You guys survived the first month," Danny said, looking impressed. And he'd only had the one baby too.

Blowouts, spit ups, Diego spilling coffee on himself...

"Somehow," he joked. "Got both kids still breathing and everything."

But what about dip on their heads?

"That's kind of half the struggle there," Danny said, smiling down at Maggie and gesturing at her. "May I?"

"Oh, absolutely," he said, gingerly handing Maggie over. Look, he loved his kids, but he was looking forward to other people holding them for a bit. "We've got pizza in here if you want some. Don't worry about spilling food on the baby I've already done that."

"Fallen asleep feeding 'em yet?" Danny asked, cradling Maggie carefully.

"Fallen asleep feeding them, fallen asleep making coffee, fallen asleep on the toilet..." It had been a rough couple weeks. "They don't like to sleep at the same time. I think it's on purpose."

"They're start sleeping just in time for the new worry to be crawling around the place," Danny said, rocking Maggie in his arms with just a sway of his torso.

"Look at that; master at work," Diego said with a grin. "You're free to do that all you want, by the way. Come over any time."

3 AM? He'd be up, come on over.

"Hey, just give us a call and we'll be over to let you guys nap," Danny promised. "And then I can watch Steve make faces at the puke. Win-win."

He was a cruel man.

"The puke isn't even that bad," he said. "For now. Right now it's just milk."

Now when solid foods got introduced that'd be a whole different story.

"Oh yeah, it's the pureed vegetables that are the worst," Danny said, remembering back on it. "Spinach."

And then he shuddered.

"Luckily Annie and I are experts at putting stuff in a blender," he said. "So I'm hoping we can improve on baby food. Or at least something where the smell doesn't make me want to barf."

"I make no apologies for the onesies," Steve said in case you'd wondered whose idea they'd been. "Tiny onesies are hilarious."

"Are big onesies less hilarious?" Diego asked. "Or just sad when an adult wears one?"

"I think it starts getting sad faster than some adults in those onesies are willing to admit to," Steve said, nodding.

"Not gonna lie, this whole experience has made me want to buy one of those wearable blankets." The pockets were big enough to hold bottles! And possibly a whole baby!

"It's like a full-body spitcloth, man," Steve said, nodding. "I fully support this choice."

"They come in some decent patterns." He'd end up with a black and white camo one, for sure. "You want food? I've got pizza."

"I'll never say no to pizza," Steve said with a grin. "Is that all you've been managing for a month?"

"Nah, Donna gave us a ton of frozen casseroles," Diego said. "I think we just finished the last one. I think casserole making is taken pretty seriously in Iowa."

Steve nodded. "I think so too. We got one from one of Danny's aunts on our way out of Thanksgiving. Like maybe we'd be hungry on the way to Honolulu?"

"How many Thanksgiving dinners did you end up having?" Diego asked.

"Just the one but I think half of the city was invited," Steve said. "I met so many Williamses."

"Were they all short with Jersey accents?" he asked.
