This had been the first time Diego had a girlfriend on Valentine's Day and he wasn't going to let any lingering awkwardness from last week prevent him from going all out for it. The restaurant had items on the menu Diego couldn't pronounce which is how he knew it was fancy. Luckily it was a place that just required you to look nice but not force a tie on you. That was just one thing he refused to do after being forced to wear one for seventeen years.

"You know, it wasn't as complicated as I thought it would be to get a reservation in a specific restaurant in a specific universe," Diego said as he tried to find something in English on the menu.

Honestly it was easy to check to make sure it was the correct one if you dropped a 'Hey, was the latest Homelander movie any good?' to the person you were talking to on the phone and if they responded in kind you knew you got it right.

"I fucking love you, too." Annie traced her hand up his back, fingers trailing lightly all the way up into his hair. "I'm like, stupid in love with you."

He might have some idea. Annie was not a difficult person to read.

Diego smiled at that, nuzzling against Annie's neck. "I aim to keep it that way. But don't hold it against me if I can't beat this Valentine's Day next year."

Next year gave Annie a whole new little warm thrill. "Maybe next year we can just, like, stay in," she suggested softly, lightly massaging her fingers along the back of his neck. "Even if you look great all dressed up."

Though the whole dishevelled post-fight, post-sex thing was really kind of working for her even more, honestly.

"Probably won't get shot at that way," he said. "Probably."

There was always a chance if they were in the same radius as Steve and Danny.

"We can just spend all of next Valentine's Day in bed," Annie suggested, kissing him again. "We're usually pretty safe there."

"I like that plan," he said. "Next Valentine's Day, no getting out of bed for anything."

"Perfect plan. I love you." It had been, like, a whole two minutes since someone had said it.

Diego smiled, positively thrilled they both were going to be disgusting about this.

"I love you too," he replied, leaning in for another kiss. "We should probably head out. I believe I was promised some practical, totally naked Valentine's Day sex when we get home."

"And a lot of it. All night. Record-breaking practical sex," Annie declared, leaning into the kiss before looking around for her boots.

Her underwear was apparently gone, which was fine. She needed her shoes, but going without her panties just meant that she could helpfully alert Diego to that fact while he was trying to drive or something.

Which would end with Diego either swerving off the road or breaking several laws to get home faster.

"Breaking our own personal record or a worldwide one?" he asked, handing over one of her boots. "Actually--lets just try for both."

"I was just going to say ours," which would also be impressive, honestly, "but yes, both. I'm all yours until tomorrow night." Annie tugged on her boot as she leaned over to kiss his cheek. "And then I'm still all yours, I just have to go to work."
