You know those little cardboard disks at the bottom of frozen pizzas? Turns out you were supposed to throw away that part before putting it in the oven. As Annie and Diego discovered, it can catch on fire.

See this is what happened when they didn't just stick to protein shakes and/or Danny didn't feed them.

Diego's apartment was still in tact, luckily, it just smelled vaguely of smoke, burnt pizza and cardboard. Which was why all of the windows were open despite it being freezing out. Diego didn't mind too much though, they had a pizza delivered--which they should have done in the first place--and now were cuddled up on the couch under some blankets.

All in all making the best of a bad (or stupid) situation.

Annie gave a happy little hum, her cheeks heating a little at the reminder. "I did," she agreed, sighing as she trailed a hand lightly along his back. "And look at that follow-through."

Diego shifted slightly, letting out a contented little sigh. "Oh good I can move my legs. I was worried for a second."

"I've had similar thoughts," Annie shared, laughing softly. "Your back's probably a mess, though."

And look at her not apologize, though she did shift around a little to kiss the hickey she'd left on his chest

"I like it," he said, shocking absolutely no one. "It's a nice reminder."

"I like you," Annie replied in a similarly shocking twist, kissing him again. "And I'm glad you can handle it when I show you how much."

Aww, way to try to make sex bruises romantic, Annie.

"I'd leave them on you too if I could," he said, biting her neck to make his point. "'Cause I like you a lot."

Annie smiled, not even resisting the warm, fluttery feeling that hearing that gave her. It still wasn't the right moment - like, please, this was still way too sex-adjacent to be appropriate for a first-time declaration like the one she wanted to make - but hearing things like that just gave her more confidence that it would go well whenever she did tell him.

"I can tell," she assured him lightly. "But keep trying, anyway. I can still feel it like you do."

Diego laughed lightly. "That is not going to be a problem for me. Like, at all."

"Good," Annie said with another happy sigh, and now that she had her bearings a little more, she reached up to tuck the blanket around him a little better. "Are you, like, freezing?"

Annie was fine, but Annie also had a whole Diego on her to keep her warm, so.

"I'm good," he said, cuddling in closer to her. "This is good."

"You say the word, and I'll use my hands," she assured him, smiling as she snuggled closer and pressed a kiss to his jaw. "Not like how I just did. You know what I mean."

At some point they would have to move, probably, but it just seemed less and less appealing by the second, honestly.
