Griddy's Donuts | Unnamed City | Morning
Diego was already confused by this time travel thing between here and Fandom. When he arrived to grab some stuff in the mansion, he found less than twenty-four hours had passed since the best funeral ever. Out of habit he was listening to the police scanner while rifling through his room and found out about the shooting at the donut shop down the street. Naturally he had to go check it out.

Diego | Diego had been at plenty of crime scenes, plenty of violent crime scenes even, but this was something else. Blood everywhere, broken glass, bodies littered around. As he integrated himself into the crime scene (giving a nod to a few officers he knew), he noticed that every victim had the same type of weapon. The kills looked to be clean and quick, very professional. It didn't take him long to find the one witness, a worker at the shop named Agnes, who was shaken up but happy to share with Diego that the only people in the shop had been a man and a little boy. Only thing specific she could remember was that a tow truck with Ishmael's Towing on it outside of the shop. Could be nothing, could be something. He was just about to leave to do his own research when he caught sight of his ex-girlfriend coming his way. Looking pissed. But she generally looked pissed when she saw him. "Uh oh." |
Patch | "You don't talk to my witnesses, understand?" Officer Patch hadn't seen Diego in months, but didn't seem surprised to see him lurking around a murder scene. |
Diego | "Let me catch you up to speed, Eudora," Diego said, holding up his hands. "This thing might look like a botched robbery but my gut's telling me something else is going on here. The waitress, she said she saw a truck that said Ishmael's Towing, there might be something there." |
Patch | "One, don't call me that," Patch started. "Two, you're not police, remember?" |
Diego | "I know." Well, he was kind of police. But not in a way he cared to explain right now. "But I'm good at this, you know I can help you." |
Patch | "I know you give me agita," Patch shot back. "And I don't need--or want--your help." Another detective stopped in front of Patch and Diego. "Uh, we got some fingerprints back. It's weird, they match a cold case from...1938." Patch raised an eyebrow. "What?" |
Diego | That was...interesting. And if Diego had been just a little bit smarter he might have connected that with how the donut shop looked an awful lot like another pastry themed shoot out he had been in this year. Alas, he was not. He just took advantage of Patch's confusion to get out of there before she could arrest him for being annoying. |
