Unnamed City | Day
Five, Diego and Allison were not a Hargreeves match up that happened often, but here they were, all shoved in Diego's massive car trying to solve the mystery of Harold Jenkins.
"I know this Jenkins dude has to have a record," he said. "I could always see if I can get into the police station."
Said the man currently wanted for attempted murder.

"I know this Jenkins dude has to have a record," he said. "I could always see if I can get into the police station."
Said the man currently wanted for attempted murder.
Five | "Don't you have access to that already?" Five asked, shifting uncomfortably at the stitch in his side. Just a little shrapnel. It was fine. |
Diego | "Uh, well, I'm not really welcome at this police station right now." Again, due to an arrest warrant being out for him. "But I know a guy I can threaten." Great plan. |
Five | Five eyed him for a moment, trying to force Diego into telling him why, but he could hazard a guess. He would not be sharing that with Allison, however. "What about other stations?" Hint hint. |
Diego | "Like...across town?" Come on, Five, you knew he wasn't going get that hint. |
Five | Five groaned and looked up like he was trying and failing to find patience here. "Just contact that idiot SEAL friend of yours." |
Allison | "What are you guys talking about?" Also, Diego had friends? Sounded fake, but Allison was too nice to say it out loud. |
Diego | "Oh yeah." He did have friends he could call on now, didn't he? Diego pulled the car over. "Just...stay here for a bit while I do something." He had to go somewhere where using a cell phone didn't make him look like he was visiting from an alien planet. |
Allison | Which left Allison and Five alone together. Awkward. "How does Diego have a 'SEAL' friend?" Allison asked, giving Five a look that was highly suspicious, but apparently Five knew a lot of things about all their lives. |
Five | "By using his charming personality," Five decided on with a firm nod. The sarcasm would at least put her off of asking more questions. |
Allison | Well, it worked! Because she rolled her eyes before getting out of the car to find the convenient payphone that Diego randomly apparently didn't see as he wandered off to go find a way to call his friend. Her bad feeling about Vanya's 'friend' and how things had ended before spurring her to make a phone call. "Hey Vanya, it's me," she said to the answering machine. Because what is voicemail? "I just wanted to... things have gotten so messed up. And all I ever wanted to do is be a good sister to you. Guess I pretty much failed at that. But you need to call me, okay? I love you, sis." If they could stop this apocalypse, maybe she could repair the relationship between them too. |
Diego | Diego returned a few minutes later, phone in hand. He was so pleased that he managed to get information (totally his own idea, Five didn't help), that he didn't even care that he was showing off weird technology to Allison. "Dude, it is scary how much anyone in the government can get into your business." |
Five | "So," Five said, gesturing for him to get on with it and stop gloating about Five's idea. |
Diego | Diego lifted up his phone to show Allison and Five the picture he was sent. "Harold Jenkins. You're welcome." |
Allison | You know what, she was going to assume this was some weird tech that Five gave him. Because it was the only plausible explanation for it. Well. Semi-plausible. Because Five. "Holy shit, Harold Jenkins is Leonard Peabody," she said, eyes going wide. God, she hoped Vanya was safe. |
Allison | Finding Harold Jenkin's house wasn't too tough with the information that Diego had gotten them. It looked like any other house, but this was the guy who would trigger the apocalypse, though. "Be careful, okay? We don't know what Peabody is capable of." He had a creepy vibe. A real creepy vibe. |
Diego | "He didn't seem too dangerous to me when we first saw him," Diego said. "Looked kind of scrawny." |
Allison | "Yeah, well, so are most serial killers and mass murderers. I mean, look at him," Allison said, pointing at Five. |
Five | "Thanks," Five said, really feeling the familial love here. |
Diego | "Good point," Diego said as he approached the door. "What does this guy want with Vanya anyway?" She was like the dictionary definition of "harmless". |
Five | "I don't know, how about we ask him after we kill him?" Because Five was gonna kill him for the apocalypse thing, but now it would be icing on the cake for being creepy with his sister. |
Diego | Diego looked at the door, trying to form a plan. "Okay, so I'm gonna burst through..." He turned his head in time to see Allison going around the back. "It would be nice if people could stick to--" |
Five | Oh, that was definitely Five's queue to teleport inside. Without Diego because Diego was a big baby about it. A big, pukey baby.. |
Diego | "--the plan," Diego finished. He sighed. "Great." You know what? His plan was awesome. He was going to stick to the plan. Which would be why he totally dove through the glass in the door to get inside. |
Allison | "Subtle," Allison said, looking down at him. She'd gone to find the open back door like a sane person. |
Five | "The door was unlocked," Five said, demonstrating it for Diego because you never passed on a chance to dogpile on a sibling. |
Diego | Diego got up, trying his very best to not show much that had freaking hurt. It had done absolutely nothing for the gunshot wound in his arm either. "Yeah, well, my way worked fine," he said, shaking some glass out of his hair. "Spread out. Yell if, uh, you're in trouble." He limped off towards the kitchen. The limp was for a cool factor, not because he was hurt. Just so you all knew. |
Five | "Inspiring leadership," Five called after him, going in the opposite direction. |
Allison | "One of the greats," Allison agreed, taking the stairs up to do the spreading out thing. |
Diego | Diego headed into the kitchen, which looked like it hadn't been updated since the 60's. He pulled a flier off the fridge with Vanya on it. She had a concert coming up and hadn't told any of them. Ugh, did he really need to feel worse right now? |
Allison | "Guys, you have to see this," Allison called as soon as she got up into the attic of Dear God What The Actual Fuck. Because she needed confirmation that this wasn't a fever dream. Because it was a little miniature of their childhood home and those terrible little dolls of them except, "All our faces are burned off." |
Diego | Diego didn't know what he expected as he went up to the attic, but it certainly wasn't some kind of murder shrine dedicated to himself and his siblings. "Well that's not creepy at all," he said dryly. "This guy has got some serious issues." |
Allison | "Shit, this was never about Vanya. This was about us." This was going to kill Vanya to hear. |
Five | You know, this was all very good furthering of the plot and putting the clues together, but Five was just going to slump against the nearest bit of furniture up here, clutching his side as that whole adrenaline and sheer force of will wore off in the face of blood loss. |
Allison | "Five!" Could her siblings hold it together for a whole day? Please? Allison immediately moved to grab him, pulling hand away to find it was red and wet. "What--blood?" |
Diego | Oh what now? Diego leaned over Five and lifted his shirt up enough to see he had a big piece of metal in his gut. "Jesus, Five, why didn't you say anything?" He barely held back from adding "you dumbass" to the end of that sentence. |
Five | "You have to keep going," Five mumbled. "So close--" Because Five was an idiot who thought he could just power on through shrapnel in his side. |
Diego | Oh great, now he was passed out. "Come on, get his legs," Diego said to Allison. "We've got to get out of here." |
